Bhutan Prayer Alert: Christian Sentenced to Three Years Imprisonment for Showing Jesus Film-

On October 6th, Prem Singh Gurung, a Bhutanese Christian, was sentenced to three years in prison for showing a film about Christianity. He is accused of "promoting civil unrest." According to the report by the government-run daily Kuensel, Gurung was arrested on May 21 after he showed a Christian film in the villages of Simkharkha and Gonggaon. The villagers alleged that Gurung showed the film about Christianity after telling them that he would show them a Nepali film.

After detaining him for more than a month, the police charged him with promoting civil unrest and violating sections 105(1) and 110 of the Bhutan Information, Communication and Media Act. According to this Act, it's illegal to show films without getting authorization from government officials.

Pray that the Father would guard Gurung's heart and mind and keep him courageous in the face of persecution.

Pray that Gurung will be released from prison.

Pray for Christians in Bhutan. They are a very small community in a predominantly Buddhist nation. Please pray that the Father would strengthen these believers to be a witness to the Gospel.
