Officially known as the Republic of Turkey, this Eurasian country stretches
across the Anatolian peninsula of southwest Asia and the Balkan region of
southeastern Europe.

Kurdish separatists, Marxist-Leninists, radical Islamists and pro-Chechen groups have all operated in Turkey. The most active in recent years has been The Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK).

Despite the efforts of Muslim extremists, Turkey has managed to remain a secular state. The majority of the population is Muslim and Christians must often endure intense persecution. The nation ranks 35th on the Open Doors World Watch List
2010.

PRAISE

Thank God the number of Christians in Turkey has grown from only a handful in 1960 to several thousand today.

PRAYER

Pray for God to defeat the plans of terrorist groups in Turkey รข€" especially
the PKK.

Pray for His plans and purposes for this nation to be fulfilled.

Few of Turkey's Muslims have ever heard the Gospel and less than a quarter of the provinces have a Christian church. Pray for God to send laborers to this harvest field.

Pray for a great revival to transform the nation.

Pray that the prejudices faced by Believers will be brushed aside.

Pray for God to give them perseverance and the ability to forgive their
persecutors.

Pray for the seeds of the Gospel to be scattered far and wide.

Hindu "holy man" Sathya Sai Baba died in April 2011. He was considered a "god" by his followers, who numbered in the millions. They believe he healed himself and was reborn in 1993. They are now praying for his resurrection. Ask the Lord to speak to the hearts of all those in India who have put their hope in men and false gods. Pray for their blind eyes to be opened to the truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout India. Petition the Lord to tear down the strongholds of Hinduism and set free those held captive by this religion. Plead with the Lord for a great harvest of souls in this nation. (Isaiah 42:6,7)

TUNISIA, NORTH AFRICA

Nearly 500 people were arrested during another large street protest in Tunisia on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Soldiers and tanks reportedly entered Deraa. Human rights groups claim more than 550 people have been killed during this time of unrest. Pray for the Lord's plans and purposes for this nation to be fulfilled. Pray for the government to stop attacking its own people. Ask the Lord to restore order and bring spiritual transformation to Tunisia. Plead for the souls of this nation. Pray for Christians to be protected from the violence and be bold in sharing the Gospel. Invite God's Kingdom to come, His will be done in Tunisia. (Psalm 37:37)
