ALGERIA, NORTH AFRICA

Riots broke out in January 2011 in Algeria over the rising cost of food. Protesters threw rocks at police and also broke into government buildings and banks, and ransacked stores.

Pray for the Lord to give the government of Algeria wisdom in dealing with this growing unrest and the continuing problem of poverty and hunger in their nation.

Ask the Lord to use this need as an opportunity for Christian humanitarian organizations to preach and demonstrate the Gospel to the population.

Pray for the light of Christ to shine into the darkness of Algeria.

Pray for a great spiritual awakening in which multitudes of Algerians put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Hindu "holy man" Sathya Sai Baba died in April 2011. He was considered a "god" by his followers, who numbered in the millions. They believe he healed himself and was reborn in 1993. They are now praying for his resurrection. Ask the Lord to speak to the hearts of all those in India who have put their hope in men and false gods. Pray for their blind eyes to be opened to the truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout India. Petition the Lord to tear down the strongholds of Hinduism and set free those held captive by this religion. Plead with the Lord for a great harvest of souls in this nation. (Isaiah 42:6,7)

TUNISIA, NORTH AFRICA

Nearly 500 people were arrested during another large street protest in Tunisia on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Soldiers and tanks reportedly entered Deraa. Human rights groups claim more than 550 people have been killed during this time of unrest. Pray for the Lord's plans and purposes for this nation to be fulfilled. Pray for the government to stop attacking its own people. Ask the Lord to restore order and bring spiritual transformation to Tunisia. Plead for the souls of this nation. Pray for Christians to be protected from the violence and be bold in sharing the Gospel. Invite God's Kingdom to come, His will be done in Tunisia. (Psalm 37:37)
