BANGLADESH, SOUTH ASIA

Christian rights activist William Nicholas Gomes, who fled his native Bangladesh after serious threats from Islamic extremists and police harassment, now lives in Hong Kong. According to an article in Worthy News, Gomes is a former Muslim who converted to Christ and was tortured for his new Christian faith. He refused to be quiet and “sings the songs of David.” Gomes goes on to say, “I was naked but Jesus Christ clothed me with His love.” His family still lives in Bangladesh and a recent court decision has ordered the police to stop harassing his family. Please pray for William and his family.

Pray for their protection.

Pray that all believers in Bangladesh will be granted more favor to present the Gospel.

Pray for the government to enforce its rulings to protect families from harassment. ( Colossians 1:9-12)

Hindu "holy man" Sathya Sai Baba died in April 2011. He was considered a "god" by his followers, who numbered in the millions. They believe he healed himself and was reborn in 1993. They are now praying for his resurrection. Ask the Lord to speak to the hearts of all those in India who have put their hope in men and false gods. Pray for their blind eyes to be opened to the truth of Jesus Christ. Pray for the Gospel to be proclaimed throughout India. Petition the Lord to tear down the strongholds of Hinduism and set free those held captive by this religion. Plead with the Lord for a great harvest of souls in this nation. (Isaiah 42:6,7)

TUNISIA, NORTH AFRICA

Nearly 500 people were arrested during another large street protest in Tunisia on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Soldiers and tanks reportedly entered Deraa. Human rights groups claim more than 550 people have been killed during this time of unrest. Pray for the Lord's plans and purposes for this nation to be fulfilled. Pray for the government to stop attacking its own people. Ask the Lord to restore order and bring spiritual transformation to Tunisia. Plead for the souls of this nation. Pray for Christians to be protected from the violence and be bold in sharing the Gospel. Invite God's Kingdom to come, His will be done in Tunisia. (Psalm 37:37)
