Before 1947, this nation was known as “West Pakistan.” When India was partitioned, Pakistan and the soon-to-be Bangladesh became home to the Muslims in this region.
Poverty is severe. “Operation World” describes Bangladesh as, “among the poorest nations, suffering from gross over-population and periodic natural disasters.” Persecution is also on the rise. Open Doors ranks Bangladesh at 47 on its list of the world’s worst persecutors of Christians.
PRAISE:
The Church in Bangladesh is slowly but steadily growing. Still estimated to be less than 0.5% of the population, Christian Believers, along with Christian expatriates, are having an impact.
PRAYER:
the people of Bangladesh to call out to the Lord for relief from poverty. (Psalm 22:26))
Islamic strongholds to be torn down. Pray for the Lord to open the eyes of Muslims in this nation. (II Corinthians 10:4))
the Kingdom of God to come to Bangladesh in great power. Pray for a tremendous harvest of souls in this nation. (I Corinthians 4:20)
