Egypt was shaken during the “Arab Spring” uprisings that erupted in North Africa and the Middle East. President Hosni Mubarak had to step down from office and power shifted to the military. How the nation will be governed in the long-term has still not been determined.
The majority of the population is Muslim. The small minority of Coptic Christians face great and ongoing persecution.
PRAISE:
Egyptian Christians displayed the love of God during the recent uprising, protecting Muslim demonstrators as they prayed, and banding together to guard their homes and neighborhoods.
PRAYER:
the Lord to raise up leaders in this nation that will guide it forward with integrity, wisdom, and humility. Pray for Christians to be called upon to hold strategic positions in government. (Daniel 2:21)
the Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist organizations to be barred from gaining power in Egypt.(Psalm 7:9)
Christians to boldly share the Gospel and for many Muslims to put their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. ( I Peter 3:15)
