Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, is considered the Islamic capital of Central Asia. Islam arrived in this region in the 8th century and since that time this nation has seen the rise of political, radical, and folk versions of this false religion.
Persecution against Christians in Uzbekistan is fierce. According to Open Doors, it includes “public humiliation, property seizure, book- and Bible-burning, dismissal of Christian employees, fines, arrests and torture.”
PRAISE:
The Lord is causing the Church to grow despite great opposition. There were very few when Praying Through The Window began in 1993. Today, there are estimated to be tens of thousands.
PRAYER:
those who have been deceived by this false religion to hear the Truth of Jesus Christ and respond by putting their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. (John 14:6)
Christians in Uzbekistan to rejoice as they share in Christ’s suffering. Pray for the Lord to strengthen and encourage them as they proclaim the Gospel. (I Peter 4:13)
